The New Plain and Fancy Cookbook

This much-loved cookbook has had four print editions and remains a valuable resource for expatriates in the Philippines. On this site you now have free access to the 5th edition in an e-version to suit you, to print if you desire. 

What's the same?
The recipe contents remain the same as the 4th edition (1988); any book with a publishing year since 1988 was a reprint. 

What's different?
All downloadable versions are searchable (so there is no index), the recipes are hyperlinked, and the PDF version is repaginated so that recipes do not split over two pages. Online version, see Recipes, or use the Search Box, top right.

Copyright and licensing
SIL retains the copyright, but we are now using a Creative Commons license: Attribution, Noncommercial, Share Alike. This license lets you remix, tweak, and build upon this work noncommercially as long as you credit SIL and license the new creations under the identical terms. You are free to copy, distribute, and transmit the work.

  • PDF version v1 for printing or on-screen use. The Recipe List is hyperlinked to each recipe title and each recipe title is hyperlinked back to the Recipe List. The text is searchable. These features make the PDF the most flexible to use of version 1.0.
  • ePub version v1.01 with Table of Contents. The text is searchable. 
  • Kindle mobi pocket version v1.01 with similar features to the ePub version.
